How to Pick the Right Freezer Bundle for Your Family

Start with your freezer, not your budget. If you have a shelf, a bundle under $200 fills it. If you have a chest freezer with room to spare, a family box between $500 and $700 covers a month or more of dinners. Every bundle below lists exactly what is in it and exactly what it costs, and if there is a cut your family will not eat, call us and we will swap it for more ground beef.

How Much Money Does a Meat Bundle Actually Save You?

A bundle saves you two things, and only one of them is money. The money comes from buying a whole animal's worth of cuts at once instead of paying retail for the four cuts you like — our bundles run roughly $8 to $13 per pound across everything in the box, including the steaks, against $13 to $35 a pound if you bought those same cuts individually off our menu. The bigger saving is the trips you stop making. Most families who buy a family box or a bulk beef bundle stop visiting the meat counter for a month or more.

  • The price is fixed before you order. Every bundle on this page is a flat price, not a hanging-weight estimate.
  • Bundles beat single cuts per pound, because you take the roasts and the ground beef along with the ribeyes. That is the whole trade.
  • Bulk beef beats bundles per pound if you only want beef and you have the freezer space — see /bulk-beef.
  • Swaps are free. If your family will not eat a cut, call and we will put that weight into ground beef instead.

What Size Meat Bundle Fits the Freezer You Already Own?

Plan on about one cubic foot of freezer space for every 35 to 40 pounds of packaged meat. A bundle under $200 fits on a shelf in a standard refrigerator freezer. A family box between $500 and $600 needs roughly three to four cubic feet — a small chest freezer, or a deep upright with room cleared. The Fall Bundle, which carries a full eighth of beef, needs about four cubic feet. The Whole Freezer at $1,299.99 needs eight to ten, which is a dedicated chest freezer.

  • Refrigerator freezer shelf: Bacon Special, First-Timer Box, Breakfast Bundle, Snack Pack.
  • Half a small chest freezer: the Grill Pack, Party Pack, October Pork Special, Smoker's Dream.
  • A full small chest freezer: the Family Staples Box, Butcher's Choice Box, Tailgating Bundle.
  • A dedicated chest freezer: the Fall Bundle, Ultimate Beef Bundle, and the Whole Freezer.
  • Not sure? Call (309) 613-0563 and tell us the size of your freezer. We do this every week.

Why Buy a Meat Bundle Instead of Shopping Week to Week?

Because you stop buying meat from a supply chain you cannot see. Grocery ground beef can pool cattle from dozens of operations; every bundle on this page comes off one farm between Morton and Mackinaw, raised by the same family that eats it. No added hormones, no steroids, no daily antibiotics, cage-free and crate-free. You can call (309) 613-0563 and ask a person exactly what your beef ate, and we carry the boxes to your freezer instead of handing you a receipt.

  • Since 2012, family-owned and family-run in Morton, Illinois.
  • One farm, one story — the same pastures and the same family behind every bundle.
  • Free farm-to-door delivery across Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Missouri.
  • Dry-aged beef, not the wet-aged case meat most grocery stores carry.
  • Trusted by institutions, not just households — schools, restaurants, and grocers buy from us.

Questions We Get About Bundles, Swaps, and Pickup Dates

How long does a meat bundle last a family of four?

It depends on the box. A bundle under $200 covers roughly one to two weeks of dinners for four. A family box in the $500 range covers about a month to six weeks. The Fall Bundle and the Ultimate Beef Bundle typically carry a family of four for two to three months, and the Whole Freezer at $1,299.99 runs three to four months. Most families settle into ordering a family box every six to eight weeks.

Can I swap out a cut I do not want in a bundle?

Yes. Call (309) 613-0563 before your order goes to the locker and tell us what your family will not eat. We will put that weight into ground beef instead. Swaps are free — we would rather you finish the box than push cuts nobody wants.

What is the difference between a bundle and buying a quarter of beef?

A bundle is a fixed price with a fixed list of cuts across beef, pork, chicken and turkey, ready to ship. A quarter of beef is beef only, priced by hanging weight plus processing, custom-cut to your instructions, and it takes longer because it runs on the locker's schedule. Bundles are simpler and span more species. Bulk beef is cheaper per pound if beef is all you want. See /bulk-beef for the hanging-weight math.

How is the meat packaged and frozen?

Everything is cut, wrapped and flash-frozen at a USDA-inspected locker, then held frozen until it reaches you. Ground beef comes in one-pound packages, patties are pre-formed and separated by freezer paper, and steaks and roasts are individually wrapped. Vacuum-sealed frozen beef holds its quality for 12 to 18 months at 0°F.

How much freezer space do I need for a bundle?

Plan on about one cubic foot for every 35 to 40 pounds of packaged meat. Small bundles fit on a refrigerator freezer shelf. Family boxes need three to four cubic feet. The Fall Bundle needs about four. The Whole Freezer needs eight to ten — a dedicated chest freezer.

Do you deliver bundles to Peoria, Pekin, and East Peoria?

Yes, and delivery is free. All three are on our regular routes. We personally deliver throughout Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Missouri, and for larger group orders we coordinate routes reaching from Michigan's Upper Peninsula to Florida. If you are outside those zones, call (309) 613-0563 and we will see if we can add you to an upcoming route.

When are the fall and holiday butcher dates?

September, October and November dates are open now, and hogs typically go to the locker in October and November. Reservations are limited and they fill in order. Call (309) 613-0563 or email questions@littlebluesfarm.com to get on the list for a specific date.

Can I pick a bundle up instead of having it delivered?

Yes. Pick up at the farm at 16307 Washington Rd., Morton, IL 61550 — call (309) 613-0563 or email questions@littlebluesfarm.com to set a time. From May through September you can also collect at the Peoria Riverfront Farmers Market; look for the 1953 blue Chevy pickup that gave the farm its name.

How do I pay, and do you take SNAP?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, SNAP, checks, cash, and money orders. If you are using SNAP and ordering online, select cash at checkout and we will process your benefits at delivery. If you would like to pay for a bundle another way, call (309) 613-0563 and we will sort it out.

Ready to Claim a Bundle Before This Month's Butcher Date?

September, October and November dates are open, and they fill in the order they are booked. Pick your bundle above, or call the farm and we will help you match a box to your freezer and your family.
