Turkey Breast Prices, Bone-In and Boneless by the Pound

Cooking for four instead of fourteen, or you only want white meat? A breast is the answer, and both of ours are great choices. Choose boneless for easy slicing and convenience, or bone-in for traditional flavor and moisture while cooking. Turkey cuts are still available.

CutTypical weightPriceOrder
Turkey, Breast (Bone-In)7–11 lbs$11.99 / lbReserve
Turkey, Breast (Boneless)2–3 lbs$14.99 / lbReserve

Bone-In or Boneless: Which Breast Is Right for You?

Prefer white meat? Our bone-in turkey breast is a great option. Keeping the breast on the bone helps add flavor and retain moisture while cooking, giving you tender, flavorful turkey without purchasing a whole bird. It runs 7 to 11 lbs at $11.99 a pound and makes a beautiful centerpiece for a holiday table.

The boneless breast is the other way to go, and plenty of customers prefer it. At 2 to 3 lbs and $14.99 a pound it is a $30 to $45 roast that feeds four to six, and it is easy to slice and easy to serve, a natural fit for a weeknight dinner or a smaller gathering.

Both are real turkey from real birds, and both come with processing already included. Pick whichever suits the meal you have in mind.

Packaging varies by product. Our fresh turkeys are securely shrink wrapped, similar to our chickens, while our smoked turkeys are hand wrapped. Weights vary by bird, and you are charged for the actual weight of the package you receive.

Ground Turkey, Thighs, Wings and Legs Priced by the Pound

Turkey is not only a November purchase, and this is the part of the page that proves it. Legs and wings make the stock the holiday bird never gives you enough of, and thighs are weeknight-simple. All prices are per pound and already include processing. Our ground turkey is currently sold out. The cuts below are available to order today.

How Reserving a Turkey Works and When Your Bird Arrives

Several of our turkey products say "Reserve" rather than "Add to Cart," and that trips people up. Here is what it actually means. Whole fresh turkeys are currently sold out and are not available to reserve at this time.

  1. 1

You reserve the item, not a specific weight.

You pick smoked, breast or cuts and reserve it on the farm store. Because every item is a different size, you are reserving a turkey in a weight range, not an exact number of pounds.

  2. 2

You pay a deposit, then we charge the final amount by weight.

Reserving places a deposit on your order. Once your turkey is processed and weighed, we charge the remaining balance based on the actual weight of the item you receive. If you would like to talk through your order before it is finalized, call the farm at (309) 613-0563 or email questions@littlebluesfarm.com.

  3. 3

We deliver it, or you meet us.

Your order goes out on the next delivery route for your area or is staged for your pickup date. Full routes and pickup options are in the delivery section below.

What Size Turkey Do You Need for Your Number of Guests?

The working rule is 1 to 1.5 lbs of whole turkey per person, and the reason for the range is bone. A whole bird is not all meat. Plan at the high end if you want real leftovers, which most people do. Our birds run 12 to 24 lbs, so the whole table below is inside what we carry, and every size on it is $4.99 a pound.

  • 12 to 14 lbs feeds 8 to 12. The size for a normal Thanksgiving with one turkey and one table. Roughly $60 to $70.
  • 16 to 18 lbs feeds 11 to 18. The most common holiday bird we sell, and the one that leaves you a real pile of leftovers. Roughly $80 to $90.
  • 20 to 24 lbs feeds 13 to 24. For a crowd, two tables, or a household that turns the carcass into a week of soup. Roughly $100 to $120. Measure your oven and your roasting pan first. A 24 lb bird does not fit in every one.
  • Buy a breast instead if you are cooking for four to six and nobody at the table fights over a drumstick. A 2 to 3 lb boneless breast is $30 to $45 and feeds four to six.

Why Does a Farm Turkey Cost More Than a Grocery Store Bird?

Because the grocery store turkey is not really priced as a turkey. In November, supermarkets sell birds at or below cost, sometimes free with a spend threshold, because a cheap turkey pulls a cart full of everything else through the door. That is a promotion, and there is nothing wrong with it, but it is not a price you can compare ours to honestly.

The rest of the gap is the same story as our chicken. Commodity birds are raised to a uniform target weight on a schedule built to take cost out. Our turkey is raised cage free and all natural, processed under inspection in small runs, and packed for your freezer. What you are paying the difference for is knowing the answer to every question you could ask about it.

  • The price already includes processing. There is no second bill and no locker call, unlike bulk beef and pork.
  • The whole bird is the value buy. At $4.99 a pound it is the cheapest way to get our turkey, and the carcass makes stock that would cost you real money in a carton.
  • Legs and wings are the underpriced entry point. At $4.49 and $4.99 a pound, they are how a careful cook gets our turkey into the weekly rotation without buying a whole bird.
  • Compare it to our chicken, not to a loss leader. Whole turkey and whole chicken are both $4.99 a pound here. That is the honest internal comparison.

What Cage Free and All Natural Actually Mean for Our Turkeys

Cage free means exactly what it says: our birds are not raised in cages. All natural means no added hormones, no steroids and no daily antibiotics. If a bird gets sick it gets treated, and it goes through the full withdrawal period before it ever goes to processing. That is the honest version, and it is the same standard we hold on the chickens, the cattle and the hogs.

We are happy to answer any question you ask about how the birds are raised, on the phone, in one sentence, without checking with anybody.

  • Cage free and all natural
  • No added hormones, no steroids, no daily antibiotics
  • Processed under inspection, which is what makes it legal for us to deliver across six states
  • Fresh turkeys are securely shrink wrapped, similar to our chickens
  • Smoked turkeys are smoked, cured and already cooked, then hand wrapped

How Ordering, Delivery and Pickup Work for Your Turkey

  1. 1

    Reserve online or call.

Pick a smoked bird, a breast, or cuts, and reserve on the farm store. Turkey is priced by the pound with processing included. Whole fresh turkeys are currently sold out. If you are buying for a restaurant, a school or a crowd, call the farm first.

  2. 2

We pack it for the route.

Your order is pulled and packed for your freezer (fresh turkeys securely shrink wrapped, smoked turkeys hand wrapped), then staged for the next delivery route or pickup date in your area.

  3. 3

We deliver it, or you meet us.

We personally deliver across six states (IL, IN, IA, MI, WI and MO) and we carry the boxes in to your freezer. There is no charge for the delivery itself, just a fuel fee based on your route. We also run a monthly pickup at the Tractor Supply in Creve Coeur. Farm pickup in Morton is available by appointment; call (309) 613-0563 to set a time. We do not host drop-in visits or farm tours.

One note on timing: the Peoria Riverfront Farmers Market runs May through September, and you can buy a frozen turkey there during market season to hold for Thanksgiving or Christmas. USDA-inspected turkeys are flash-frozen and keep their quality for up to a year, so a bird bought in July is every bit as good in November. Turkey is also available by delivery, at the Creve Coeur pickup, or by farm appointment.

Questions We Get About Buying a Farm Turkey Near Peoria

How much does a whole farm-raised turkey cost?

Whole turkeys from Little Blue's Farm are $4.99 a pound and birds run 12 to 24 lbs, so a whole turkey comes to roughly $60 to $120 depending on the bird. Most land near $90. The price includes processing, so there is no second bill and nothing to add at pickup. Whole fresh turkeys are currently sold out while we work on securing additional availability, and we are not taking reservations, preorders or deposits on them at this time. Our turkey cuts, including smoked turkey and turkey breast, are available to order.

What size turkey do I need for my guests?

Plan 1 to 1.5 lbs of whole turkey per person. The range accounts for bone, and the high end gives you leftovers. A 12 to 14 lb bird feeds 8 to 12 people. A 16 to 18 lb bird feeds 11 to 18 and is the most common holiday size. A 20 to 24 lb bird feeds 13 to 24. Measure your oven and your roasting pan before you plan on anything over 20 lbs.

How long does it take to thaw a frozen turkey?

Standard food-safety guidance is 24 hours of refrigerator thawing for every 4 to 5 lbs, with the refrigerator at 40 degrees or below. That puts a 12 lb bird at about 2.5 to 3 days, an 18 lb bird at about 4 days, and a 24 lb bird at 5 to 6 days. Start earlier than you think you need to. Thaw in the refrigerator, not on the counter.

Are your turkeys fresh or frozen?

Frozen. Our turkeys are flash-frozen after processing, which is what lets us deliver across six states and hold quality for up to a year. Fresh turkeys are securely shrink wrapped, similar to our chickens, while smoked turkeys are hand wrapped. Frozen is also what lets you buy a turkey at the farmers market in July and hold it for Thanksgiving. Just plan your thaw time using the answer above.

Do I have to reserve a turkey in advance?

Several of our turkey products are reserved rather than added straight to a cart, because every item is a different weight. You reserve the item in a weight range, we fill it from the batch, and the final charge is based on the actual weight you receive. Whole fresh turkeys are currently sold out and are not available to reserve. Call (309) 613-0563 if you are ordering for a crowd.

Are your turkeys cage free and antibiotic free?

Our turkey is raised cage free and all natural, with no added hormones, no steroids and no daily antibiotics. Antibiotics are not used routinely as a growth or preventive measure. If an individual bird gets sick it is treated and goes through the full withdrawal period before harvest.

Are the neck and giblets included with a whole turkey?

Yes. The neck and giblets are included inside the whole bird.

Bone-in or boneless turkey breast: what is the difference?

Both are good choices, and it comes down to how you are serving it. The bone-in breast runs 7 to 11 lbs at $11.99 a pound, so about $84 to $132. Keeping the breast on the bone helps add flavor and retain moisture while cooking, and it makes a beautiful centerpiece for a holiday table. The boneless breast runs 2 to 3 lbs at $14.99 a pound, so about $30 to $45, and it is easy to slice and easy to serve for a weeknight roast for four to six.

Is your smoked whole turkey already cooked?

Yes. Our smoked turkeys are smoked, cured, and already cooked. Before serving, we recommend reheating the turkey to an internal temperature of 165°F. Smoked turkeys are 14 to 20 lbs at $6.99 a pound, or roughly $98 to $140, and they are hand wrapped.

Is your turkey processed under federal inspection?

Our turkey is processed under federal inspection alongside our chicken, beef and pork. Poultry falls under the Poultry Products Inspection Act rather than the Federal Meat Inspection Act, so the mark of inspection is shaped a little differently, but the oversight is the same. Call (309) 613-0563 if you want the establishment number for the facility your order went through.

Where can I pick up a turkey order near Peoria?

Three ways. We deliver direct to your door across six states (IL, IN, IA, MI, WI and MO) and carry the boxes in to your freezer, with no charge for the delivery itself, just a fuel fee based on your route. We run a monthly pickup at the Tractor Supply in Creve Coeur. And farm pickup in Morton is available by appointment. The Peoria Riverfront Farmers Market runs May through September, and you can buy a frozen turkey there during market season to hold for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
